Hello! My name is Icaro Pereira. I am a Foreign Teacher at Kang Chiao International School.

I have been teaching for more than 12 years in different countries.

I believe that effective learning takes place when there is a welcoming, engaging and fun atmosphere in the classroom. Nothing makes me happier than seeing students developing their language skills class by class, aspiring being more fluent and independent in an ever-demanding world.

My philosophy as a teacher is summarized by the ancient Chinese quote:

“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.” -Xun Kuang.

我的第一次烘焙

　　在过去的两个星期里，我一直在和我的1E学生们学习和阅读名为“我的第一堂烘焙课”这篇文章。文章主要介绍了烘焙所需要的食材，工具以及实际烘烤饼干所需的一切材料，如书中所述。

　　在第二周，我们还一起学习了巧克力蛋糕食谱。由于学生们一直在围绕这个主题进行很多练习，所以我想出了一个好主意。

　　我决定挑战一下，让父母录制孩子烘焙的整个过程。拍摄时，学生必须大声用英文说出自己烘焙需要的材料和步骤。我让孩子们在周末录制烘焙视频。我们取得了巨大的成功！

　　这个挑战使学生能够流利地使用目标单词，在有意义的现实生活中说英语，同时又充满乐趣。我们看到了孩子们烤蛋糕，面包和饼干！

　　在家长们的全力配合和支持下，我们实现了这一目标。

　　当家长，老师和孩子共同协作时，一切皆有可能！

　　我希望与您分享我和学生的学习过程。我敢肯定，你的脸上也会露出笑容。

My First Baking Lesson

For the last two weeks, the 1E students have been working with a reader called "My First Baking Lesson". They were introduced to ingredients, baking tools and everything they need to actually bake cookies, like in the book.

On the second week, they were also introduced to a chocolate cake recipe. Since they have been exercising so much about this theme, I had an idea.

I decided to challenge parents to recording their kids baking. While filming, the students had to say out loud the ingredients and procedures as they were performing them. The starting day was Friday and the deadline is this Sunday.

It has been an outstanding success!

The challenge resulted in students using the target language with fluency, speaking the English Language in a meaningful real life situation while having a world of fun.. We can see kids baking cake, bread and cookies!

Parents were nothing but supportive and were 100% engaged in making this happen.

When parents, teachers and kids are aligned, everything is possible!
